Artist bio

Until recently, photography has been the focus of my artistic endeavours, both in a professional capacity and as a serious amateur. The focus of my photographic works has included miniature landscapes based on fungi and lichen, character portraiture, horses in action and weddings.  More recently, my focus has been on landscape and wildlife photography, both in Australia and overseas and abstract images found in the natural environment.

After four decades focused on photography, I have tentatively returned to oil painting  I have found painting in oils to be a way of enhancing my creative bent.  I have completed works inspired by my most recent photographic exploits, ranging from outback landscapes to human interactions with livestock.  The challenge of creating a realistic and detailed representation of the subject in oils that captures the fall of natural light on the subject has become my primary motivation.  And I see photography of the natural environment as complimentary to this process.
