Perth born, the youngest of five children of the fifties and the only girl, Maureen passed her time away drawing cartoons and happy scenes with blackboard chalks on the family's paved concrete patio area. Whilst her Dad was very enthralled, he reluctantly had to hose the lovely drawings off periodically to please his wife, and to keep the patio clean.
Winning small prizes at the Royal Show and other exhibitions, kept Maureen keen to further pursue her art, but circumstances led to an early interruption of studies so she had to join the work force at fourteen years and nine months. So with the sketch book always at the ready, life was a challenge to capture new horizons as a teenager, and turn her passion of fantasy and fashion to hairdressing, where a love of colour and styling started, and continues to this day.
With her second marriage happy, and kids growing up nicely, Maureen decided to concentrate on her art again, and so joined Liddelow Homestead, a local art group. She has participated in many courses, including watercolour, acrylic, and oils, and had many sales in the art and craft shop which was open to the public on Sundays. Now a member of the Armadale Society Of Artists, the association with other artists has offered her the opportunity to exhibit works on a regular basis. This and sales at local and country art exhibitions has meant that Maureen has been able to use her knowledge and experience gathered over the years, to help groups of budding artists of all ages at a local church hall twice weekly, teaching oils, acrylics, and pastels.
If any of Maureen's art interests you, please contact her on 08 93986614 or mobile 0416257594 and she will be glad to discuss any of the pieces with you, or anything you might like to have painted as she enjoys all aspects of art.
