WORKSHOPS

More exciting workshops have been organised for the Art House.
ERICA MUMMERY will conduct a watercolour workshop on Tuesday 1st July 9.30am to 12.30 at the Art House. Erica discribes her workshop as "scary but exciting". Cost is $23 members and $25 non members. Join us for 4 hours of fun!
SHELLEY COWPER will introduce printmaking. Ink and paper will be supplied at a small cost. Some tools will be necessary and the Art House will have these on hand for your use. Cost $23 members and $25 non members., on Saturday 12th July, from 10am for 4 hours.
WARREN SIMPSON will be conducting a workshop and demonstration on the art of cartooning and animation , Please take a 2b pencil, A3 drawing pad and a black bullet point texter. Cost $33 members and $35 non members. On Friday 1st August for 6 hours from 10am.

JULY DEMONSTRATOR

We are pleased to announce that Naomi Grant will be our demonstrator for the July 1st meeting. Naomi has been a successful artist and designer for 25 years. Naomi's areas of achievement range from fine art covering oils, pastels, acrylic and watercolours as well as textile design, screen printing, freelance consultations, facilitating design and drawing workshops. Her work can be seen on her website www.naomigrant.com we are very much looking forward to what will be a very exciting demonstration.

Sat July 19th & 20th - An interesting and exciting 2 day workshop. Watercolour - the 1st day will be traditional and the 2nd will be innovative. - cost - $46 members and $50 non members.

Date to be confirmed - Christopher is well known to all of us from Rainier Framers, he has demonstrated at our meetings on a few occasions. A pastel workshop, he will be doing a demonstration to begin with, to be followed be a workshop into the afternoon. - cost - $38 members and $40 non members.

THE ART HOUSE

Our new meeting place "The Art House" is now up and running with several workshops organised already. Keep watching the announcements page for more details. In the meantime please feel free to visit us, contact us on enquiries@armadalesocietyofartists.com for more information. Everyone is welcome, members and non members for a small charge you can participate in our open workshops and learn from each other.
We would to thank all the members that have helped to get this project off the ground, we had 26 members helping over the Easter weekend at various times with paint brushes and cleaning cloths, the whole place was scrubbed from top to bottom and freshly painted, donations of equipment have been pouring in and after this weekend of open workshops the "Art House" is alive. Please come and visit us and join in.

MAY DEMONSTRATOR

Our demonstrator on Tuesday 6th May will be Carl Haanappel. Carl is a very exciting artist using mainly watercolours, you can see some of his work and find out more about him on this link http://www.rainierfineart.com/Artist-Detail.cfm?ArtistsID=3 . He has also agreed to do a workshop at our new Art House on Railway Ave., Kelmscott, a date to be confirmed but we will know at the demonstration.

APRIL DEMONSTRATOR - VAL BROOKS

Val was a ceramicist for many years before turing to pastels on paper. Since 1999 she has been focussing mainly on land and seascapes and in 2006 began exploring oils.
She has studied under Brian Simmonds at Tresillian Centre and at U.W.A. extension school.
Currently a member of the Pastel Society and Wanneroo Arts Society, she has begun teaching adult groups and conducting workshops and demonstrations. We are looking forward to meeting Val in April. You can see some of her work on http://www.valbrooksartist.com

MARCH DEMONSTRATOR

We are very pleased to have Kate Petty back as a demonstrator at our next meeting on Tuesday 4th March. Kate is one of our members and is President of the Watercolour Society, she demonstrated for us during last year and was very well received, we are really looking forward to another interesting demonstration. Kate has ben developing some very interesting techniques to show us, so come along for an interesting and informative demonstration.

ARMADALE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE EXHIBITION

We are very pleased to announce that we will be having an exhibition at the very popular "Hills Heartbeat Festival" at the Armadale Christian College, 86 Admiral Rd., Bedfordale. Over the weekend of March 29th and 30th between 9am and 5pm daily.
There will be many other activities including "pancakes in the park", Reptile displays, Kids activities, Abseiling, and many craft stalls and local business and Community groups. So come along for a great day out in lovely surroundings.

20TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION

WE INVITE YOU TO THE 20TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION. This will be held in the Armadale Town Hall, Jull St, Armadale on Saturday and Sunday the 27th and 28th of October, 10am to 5pm daily. This is an excellent opportunity to buy paintings directly from the artists with no extra commissions charged. We have a selection of top quality works of all prices which are sure to please everyone and we look forward to seeing you there.

November Demonstrator

Our demonstrator for our next meeting on Tuesday November 6th is Jan Telfer. Jan has an impressive background in printmaking and calligraphy having exhibited many times, both in Australia and overseas. Jan will be showing members how to have fun with silk screening in a form that could be experimented with at home.

October Demonstrator

Our demonstrator for October will be Kate Petty, Kate has been a member of our Society for a number of months and is a very successful artist. She joined the Watercolour Society in 2006 and is now President. Kate enjoys many outdoor pursuits which stems from her passion for all things natural. This shows in her work, which is very often painted 'plein air', her abstract works excude her passion and feeling for our planet.

September Demonstrator

Our September demonstrator will be watercolour artist Sandy Robertson.
Sandy has recently been invited to be the tutor on a trip to the Aegean islands, we hope that she will be displaying some of the works resulting from this trip. She will be demonstrating the techniques and processes she would use to complete a painting, using thumbnail scetches to begin with transfering the chosen scetch to watercolour paper using light pencil lines.
We are very excited about having Sandy as a demonstrator on Tuesday 4th September, and remind everyone that visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

This is a picture of Sandy Robertson, our September demonstrator, we enjoyed Sandy's demonstration very much and would like to thank her for coming. We look forward to the next time.

July Meeting Demonstrator

Our demonstrator for July will be Margaret Coxall.
Margaret's paintings are well known for their vivid use of colour and their contemporary feel for the landscape. Many of her works are in collections throughout the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia. She has had 3 solo exhibitions in the U.S.A. as well as many in Australia. She incorporates inks, crayon, acrylics, collage and watercolours in her works to provide exciting and vibrant images.
She has been the recipient of many awards for her paintings and has exhibited her works in the Premier Steve Bracks offices in Treasury Place, Melbourne. Relocated to West Australia she has opened her own studio from which she conducts workshops and private tuition as well as master classes. Her workshops are known for their innovative and supportive approach and she has conducted workshops for the National Gallery and for many art groups throughout Australia.
Margaret currently runs workshops for the winter and summer schools at Atwell Gallery and is often a guest lecturer and demonstrator at art groups throughout W.A.
She has been awarded The Centenary Medal for services to community arts and development.
