About the Armadale Society of Artists
The Aims of the Society
To encourage local artists and to create awareness of art
in the district.
A small group of art lovers from all walks of life met
for the very first meeting in March 1987. All of them
were very enthusiastic to start an art society because
there was nothing in the area to serve their needs.
The first annual exhibition was not until the following
year, 1988, and was a great success. Since then the
Society has gone from strength to strength with more
members joining over the years. Not everyone in the
society has had formal training and many learners have
gone on to be very accomplished artists. We offer a
community service to people who love to paint or enjoy
art.
Where and When we meet
The first Tuesday of every month (except January) 7pm

Exhibitions
A major Art Exhibition and sale of works is arranged
annually, usually late October/early November. This is
one of the most successful exhibitions in the area with
over 50 paintings being sold. It is held in the Armadale
Hall, Jull Street, Armadale, a Heritage building, and a
beautiful venue for this very popular exhibition.
An exhibition is also held in the Thornlie Square Shopping
Centre, in June. This is held over two weeks and is also
extremely popular. The standard of work in both of these
exhibitions is outstanding and the local community is very
supportive. We are very grateful for the support the
management of the Thornlie Square Shopping
Centre has given
us.
We also have an Autumn exhibition at The Armadale Christian College
in Bedfordale, please watch out for notices about these exhibitions on the announcements page.
Workshops
Various workshops are organized throughout the year, a
good opportunity to get know fellow members, and learn
from each other. There are also various groups within the
society that get together from time to time.

etc., and of course the chance to participate in our

with this vibrant society is invaluable in advancing your
art, we have some very exciting artists who are always
